Chen Ying is a Lecturer at the National University of Singapore. She is a qualitative medical and political sociologist specializing in modern China. She received her doctorate in sociology from the National University of Singapore and is currently working on her first book project, Spiritualizing Cancer: The Political Entanglement of New Religious Movement and Patient Activism in China, which examines patient activism with the cultural legacy of the Qigong movement in the 1980s.
