Noémi Tousignant
Noémi Tousignant is an Associate Professor in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at University College London. Her work focuses on historical and contemporary intersections of biomedicine with global inequalities in health in West Africa, especially in Senegal. In the past, she has explored how toxicity circulates around scientific (in)capacity, the moral and political values of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy work, and the cumulative traces of past medical research. Currently, she holds a Wellcome Trust University Award, which funds research on the history of liver cancer in West Africa as an example of how advances in biomedical knowledge and technology generate unequal geographies of protection, persisting exposures and uncertainties, and dilemmas of care. She is also an advisor of the University of Oslo convergence environment AnthroTox.
